Blue Carbon Principles and Guidance |
The new “High-Quality Blue Carbon Principles & Guidance” report was launched at COP27. The five principles aim to align stakeholders around a shared vision for blue carbon, and build confidence & momentum around blue carbon projects and investments. |

Wetlands For Carbon Storage Route Map |
WWT calls for the creation of 22,000 hectares of coastal saltmarsh by 2050, to help the UK government reach its net zero targets. The WWT report “Wetlands For Carbon Storage Route Map”, also calls for the Saltmarsh Carbon Code to be adopted by UK government and devolved administration by 2025. |

APPG for the Ocean calls for Blue Carbon Solutions |
The All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Ocean has released “The Ocean: Turning the Tide on Climate Change”, which examines blue carbon and ocean-based solutions to climate change. The report calls for the UK government to prioritise and facilitate investment in blue carbon and ocean-based solutions, and makes key recommendations. |

Seagrass Restoration in the Humber Estuary |
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Orsted have teamed up to develop what could be the largest seagrass restoration project in Europe. The partnership aims to restore up to 74 acres of seagrass as part of Orsted’s planned Hornsea Offshore Wind Farm. The pilot will be completed in early 2023. |
